Facts:  The defendant was working as a cashier at Walmart when it was discovered that a register that she shared on multiple days was short a significant amount of money.  The stores loss prevention officer reviewed the video from those days and believed that he saw the defendant take money from the register and put it in her pocket.  The defendant was arrested and charged with Grand Theft.

Outcome:  Mr. Sobel was hired almost immediately after the arrest.  After extensive discussion with the case filing division of the State Attorney’s Office, the case was downfiled to a misdemeanor.  Mr. Sobel took the deposition of the stores loss prevention officer and after the deposition and review of the video was able to have the state dismiss the case prior to trial.
