Facts: It was alleged that after an argument between the alleged victim and another female that the defendant drove by the alleged victims house and fired multiple shots into the home. The alleged victim identified the defendant as the shooter to the police.
Outcome: After evaluating the discovery in the case, Mr. Sobel began his own investigation utilizing an investigator and a crime scene/forensic expert. It was clear from the reports that the police never did any crime scene work and closed the case based solely on the identification of the alleged victim. Mr. Sobel was able to recreate the shooting with his investigative team to show that the shooting never could have occurred the way that the alleged victim swore that it took place. It was clear that the alleged victims identification was flawed.
After approximately two years of work, the Office of the State Attorney dismissed the charges.
